Fangoria, TPONG, and Hideous Horrors

A couple of quick things to share!

Excited to see Fangoria reporting on A Light Most Hateful movie rights being picked up! So excited! The book releases in 2023, and I’ll keep things up to date with both novel and movie news to come.

As some might have noticed, my first novella The Possession of Natalie Glasgow is now out of print. It’s been picked up by a publisher who can hopefully be named later this year or early next year. Expect to see a new edition in 2024. In the meantime, it’s only available via the audiobook narrated by Gemma Amor + stray paperbacks in bookstores.

My The Hideous Book of Hidden Horrors story “When I Catch You” appeared in this star-studded list, “15 Of the Scariest Short Stories to Read This Halloween (And Where to Find Them)” on Paste. Check it out, and the other stories on the list!

Film News – A Light Most Hateful

I’m so pleased to share that my upcoming 2023 novel from Titan Books, A Light Most Hateful, has been picked up by producer Tony Eldridge and Lonetree Entertainment for film adaptation!

From the Deadline article:

“A Light Most Hateful is billed as a terrifying survival horror full of haunting friendships in which the female experience turns monstrous. The story focuses on Olivia, who having fled home three years prior is stuck in a dead-end job in nowhere Chapel Hill, PA with her best friend Sunflower. That’s until a night storm crashes into town with a mind-bending monster in tow. If Olivia’s going to survive the night to someday reconcile with her parents, she needs to dodge residents enslaved by the storm’s otherworldly powers and find Sunflower. But as the night strains friendships and reality itself, Olivia suspects the storm, and its monster, may have more to do with Sunflower than anything else.”

A Light Most Hateful releases from Titan Books late next year. I’ll keep things up to date on both book and movie news as allowed, but in both cases, it’s an exciting time!

On the publishing side, I have a new story out, “The Deep End of You,” which is about the most unique soul in the world–yours!–and how it can be captured, in art and in other ways. Check it out in Stories of the Eye from Weirdpunk Books!

April News

A little bit of news! A few days ago I appeared at AuthorCon, a new branch of Scares That Care, where I had the fortune of being a guest of honor alongside authors like Mary SanGiovanni, S.A. Cosby, Wrath James White, Josh Malerman, Grady Hendrix, C.V. Hunt, and more! It was my first public signing, first in-person reading, first in-personal, and it was all wonderful! Everyone was kind and patient, and it was just a lovely time all around. I  also had a very cool sign designed by Cassie of Let’s Get Galactic:

In sadder news, due to production circumstances, “Unkindly Girls” will no longer be adapted as part of the film version of Worst Laid Plans. I wish everyone working on the movie the best. Film rights have been returned to me, so maybe “Unkindly Girls” will see the screen someday down a different avenue.

Lastly, I’ve signed with Death’s Head Press to publish three upcoming chapbooks! More details to come when available, but prepare for an ill-fated trio of queer horror and weird crime. On the Splatter Western, Death’s Head Press is all set to publish my third novel Cruel Angels Past Sundown in early 2023.

Lots of good thing to come!

“Unkindly Girls,” LOHF Awards 2020

So honored to learn that “Unkindly Girls,” my story from last year’s Worst Laid Plans anthology, has won the Ladies of Horror Fiction Award 2020 for Best Short Story. All the nominees are amazing, and I’m truly grateful for this. I owe thanks not only to LOHF, but Grindhouse Press for publishing, Sadie Hartmann for her grand introduction, and most of all the brilliant Samantha Kolesnik, not only the anthology’s editor, but producer behind the Worst Laid Plans motion picture coming from GenreBlast Films, of which “Unkindly Girls” will be a segment.

Worst Laid Plans: Fully Funded

It feels like only a couple days ago that I announced the crowdfunding for an upcoming GenreBlast film based on the anthology Worst Laid Plans, edited by Samantha Kolesnik of Off Limits Press. Now I get to announce: IT’S FULLY FUNDED! This movie is happening! I’m so excited to see my tale “Unkindly Girls” and the other stories come to silver screen life in the future.

In the meantime, the anthology has been nominated for a Splatterpunk Award and a Bram Stoker Award, so huge congratulations to Sam on those!

Worst Laid Plans: The Movie; Book announcement

Two fantastic announcements!

First, last year’s hit Grindhouse Press anthology Worst Laid Plans is getting a film adaptation, and one of the stories included will be my coming-of-age horror tale “Unkindly Girls.”

Second, I’ll be joining the roster at Death’s Head Press in their splatter western series in 2022. Look for more news such as title, cover art, and release date to come!
